Our cutlass is a genuine certified NAVPERS approved cutlass and is flawlessly beautiful in every detail. The CPO Cutlass blade is made from Stainless Steel which is polished to a mirror finish and is 26 inches in length. On the base of one side of the blade are four laser engraved CPO Anchors in either CPO, SCPO, MCPO, and MCPON. On the opposite side of the blade the letters U.S.N are laser engraved into the blade. The pommel is brass in color and is decorated with the design of the 1897 CPO cap insignia. The handle of the cutlass includes a brass colored hand guard with black leather handle wrapped in gold wire. The handle of the cutlass includes a brass "Cuillere a pot" or soup ladle style shell hand guard with a black leather handle wrapped in gold wire. The cutlass is accompanied by a matching genuine leather scabbard with brass top mount and toe plate.
The cutlass is authorized for ceremonial wear by Chief Petty Officers designated as members of the official party during ceremonies that require officers to wear Swords. To facilitate uniformity in appearance, the CPO Cutlass may only be worn if all CPO members of the official party are wearing the cutlass. This Cutlass has been adopted as the OFFICIAL UNIFORM CUTLASS of the United States Navy as of 1 august 2011. With the exception of the Navy Exchange Uniform Center out CPO Cutlass is the only CPO Cutlass that meets all Bureau of Naval Personal Uniform Specifications and our prices are extremely competitive with the Navy Uniform Shop, which ONLY sells to authorized active duty US Navy Chief Petty Officers, making it impossible for family members to purchase a US Navy CPO Cutlass as a gift or presentation.
