Authentic Reproduction of the U.S. Navy 1860 Officers Cutlass
Made with close attention to detail and accuracy
We are pleased to offer this, the most accurate reproduction of a United States 1860 Naval Officers/CPO Cutlass, available today. Unlike other imitations of the original, this Cutlass is made true to detail with a leather scabbard joined on the back with metal rivets, rather than a sewn seam. This is the Model 1860 Cutlass that replaced the USN Regulation Model 1841 during the Civil War (1860-1865) and was unique with its "Cuillere a pot" or soup ladle style shell guard. The Model 1860 Cutlass design produced the most elegant cutlass of all.
These with the cutout U.S.N. , were worn by the officers as well as CPOs and were identical to the CPO version except for the initials. This Cutlass is aesthetically pleasing and well balanced, creating an efficient fighting tool within the confined quarters aboard warships.
